Speak Like a Mexican - Day 15, Let's Party like a Local!

Welcome to Week 3 of our course, "Fluency Hour III: Speak Like a Mexican." This week, we're focusing on sayings and expressions, but first, we're starting off with some festive vocabulary! These words will help you blend into any party scene in Mexico.

Here's our itinerary for Day 15:

Introducing Mexican Party Words:

• • 'Antro': This is the colloquial term for a nightclub. E.g., "Nos vemos en el antro a las diez."
  • 'Perreo': A vulgar dance, similar to twerking, often seen in nightclubs. E.g., "No me gusta el perreo, es demasiado vulgar."
  • 'Rola': A song. E.g., "¿Has oído la nueva rola de Bad Bunny?"
  • 'Cotorrear': This word has a variety of meanings including to talk, to joke, or to party. E.g., "Vamos a cotorrear con los amigos este fin de semana."

Let's Have a 'Chela' or a 'Caguama':

• • 'Chela': A colloquial term for beer. E.g., "Voy a tomar una chela con Luis."
  • 'Caguama': A large beer. E.g., "Después de la chela, me tomé una caguama."
  • 'Agualoca': This refers to a cheaply made alcoholic drink. E.g., "No me gusta la agualoca, prefiero una buena chela."
  • 'Pistear': To drink alcohol with friends. E.g., "Este viernes, vamos a pistear."

Remember, while these terms add a colorful touch to your conversation, they should be used appropriately considering your audience and the context.
